The Weather Station is a Davis Vantage Pro. It sends information via a radio link to the house, where
information on the
current weather is stored in a dedicated data logger, which transfers
stored information to a program called
Weatherlink
.
This is a picture of the Vantage Pro Console,
which logs the data, and is sited indoors next to the PC
an
Athlon 3500+. At
regular intervals of 10 minutes, data is uploaded to the Internet via a 2 Mb ADSL link,
This is a view of the ISS or Integrated Sensor Suite which is
the part of the weather station which
gathers the actual weather data. It is
solar powered, with backup from a small 3volt lithium battery.
The ISS is sited at the NE side of the house, so temperatures shown are all shade temperatures.
Even at the Summer Solstice, trees give complete shelter from the early morning sunshine from the NE.
The anemometer is located up in the clear at a height of 10 meters.
